I specialize in violin and viola tracks of any sort - pop, rock, folk, Celtic, classical -
with all flavors and textures in between.
I pride my work on creativity along with correct intonation and rhythm during each session.
I also understand that every artist is different with various demands and needs.
I focus on the fact that every song has these requirements.
This is what I tap into.
I can read music and arrange parts for myself and/or others.
I can put together a string ensemble of any size or variation of instruments.
I can play three quarters
of a string quartet - two violins and a viola part.
I can also hire a cellist if needed.
I use a GT-3 Boss petal and can make many, many different kinds of interesting sounds.
Sometimes I don't even sound like a violin!
I can be the frosting on your song.
I can be the featured instrument in your piece.
I can be the glue that holds your song together.
I can solo like a madwoman.
I can be that instrument you've been looking for that will make your song complete.
Basic Session Work |
Minimum = $125.00 |
| This session work includes two hours of recording (does not include set-up).
It also includes preparation that I do at home beforehand. |
Additional hours = $30.00/per hour |
| This includes additional songs, parts or doubling. Also, if a song takes more than two hours of work a per hour charge is applied. |
Ensemble Session Work |
Minimum = $100.00 |
| This includes my part (violin or viola) in an ensemble for two hours of recording (does not include set-up).
It does not include any written arranging of parts. It includes as many parts as can be recorded in two hours. |
Additional hours = $25.00/per hour |
| This is sometimes necessary when I need to record several parts in one session. |
Putting together an ensemble = $100.00 |
| I can use my little black book to find quality musicians for any type of piece. This takes a great deal of communication skills and persistence as well as scheduling. I'll also handle the negotiations of fee between the other members of the ensemble, acting as a liaison between musicians and the artist. |
| If I only need to find one other person and it doesn't take me longer than half an hour, this fee is waived. |
Arranging |
Minimum = $50.00 for two hours |
| This is done outside the recording studio on my own time in my home studio. Other times it's done at the
artist's place at a designated time (agreed upon by both parties) so it is exactly how they want it. It is usually for ensemble work (such as a string quartet or a harmony part to match my original part). |
Additional hours = $20.00/per hour |
| It usually doesn't take more than two hours. |

| I don't charge for travel if it is within 10 miles from my studio. If travel is more than 10 miles from my studio I charge $.33/mile. |
| I prefer to be paid in cash but will take checks made out to Meredith Cooper. |
