Performing and Recording

No matter what I do in life (job-wise), I will always consider myself a musician first and foremost. Playing music makes me feel complete. Sometimes I think that it's too bad that us musicians have to sacrifice so much in our lives in order to play - but every true musician I meet is so fueled by the fact that they can't imagine their lives without music. There's nothing else in my life that drives me to such...passionate dedication.

Mer Promo I love gigging at events! How great is it to get paid to play one's instrument at a (usually) happy occasion ? I have done funerals, too, but usually the events are happy. I provide music for weddings and other events in several forms so check out the combos I offer. And I'm always open to new ones!

I'm so lucky to have worked with a number of talented, bright, interesting and fun musicians. I continue to become involved in the personal projects of these artists - I've listed what I've been involved with. It is a varied list, which is what I'm most proud of.

I've been hired to play violin and viola on many recordings. Sometimes the parts are improvised and other times I'm reading from a score. I've also been hired to organize an ensemble such as a string trio or quartet for a recording. It adds a wonderfully lush texture to any ballad. Additionally, I have been hired to help arrange these ensemble parts which is something I greatly enjoy. Check out my recording rates and what I have to offer. There is also a link to read the words of the audience - the critic. I've taken these excerpts from reviews, mostly of my band, The Shelley Winters Project. The first time I saw my name in a newspaper was a very exciting thing!

The virual karaoke company, Music Playground, hires me to record string parts for their product. I really enjoy these sessions. I've recorded all styles from Led Zepplin's "Baba O'Riley" to the Beatles' "Hello, Goodbye." Sometimes I can't believe I'm actually getting paid to do this!

Fiddlechicks.com is an amazing website dedicated to women on electric violin. Hello, that's me! So I submitted my info to them and got a page on their site. Check out the entire site because there are some really innovative and interesting chicks on there. It's about time we got a page!

I've always wanted to explain how I view music/art. My website provides me with an opportunity to explain my views on being a musician and violinist in this world.

And finally, I've included another link to my gigging string quartet, The Red Line String Quartet. There are audio files of the group so please listen and consider us for any occasion - a wedding, party or recording session.
