Mer's great grandfather played the violin. He was in the Paul Whitman Orchestra, which
performed the world premiere of George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue." It was first
performed on February 12, 1924
Mer got a perm in seventh grade. Like her hair needed it.
Mer loves bagels. She especially likes them toasted with cream cheese, tomato slices and salt and pepper
(and lox if it's available).
Mer has spent most of the summers of her childhood either in Vermont with her family or
at summer camp.
Mer's babysitter was also a violinist. She taught Mer violin and Mer received a stick of
gum when she practiced.
Since college, Mer hasn't lived in an apartment longer than two years.
Mer loves Conan O'Brien. She wishes she could be friends with him.
Mer was a Brownie and then a Girl Scout.
Mer tapes General Hospital every day. She watches the tapes whenever she has free time. She
calls it her "brain candy."
Mer's nickname at the first sleep-away camp she went to (Camp Thoreau in upstate NY) was
"Spazzy."
Mer's grandmother, Mimi, repairs art for a living. Her uncle, Joel, is a stained glass
artist and recently became a massage therapist.
Mer's immediate family is Jewish but they celebrate Christmas. The only difference is they
eat Jewish food from Zabar's on Christmas morning. The Cooper Christmas Eve tradition is
to eat hot dogs, baked beans and slaw for dinner. Hmmm.
Mer was a quiet child until her junior year in high school.
